Day Trip - Ocean Shores
I took the kids the other day down? Over? I guess down, and over. :) To Ocean Shores the other day. Its about one hour and forty-five minutes from out house. We got up early and headed down, the kids spent the majority of the day on the beach, and then I took them out to pizza, and homemade ice cream. They had a fabulous day! And, so did I!
The kids made great memories, and so did I. We haven't been to the beach in years, since our little princess got diagnosed with cancer. She is finally at a place where taking little trips and doing thing, can happen some. The kids favorite part was the beach, I thought for sure it would be the ice cream, but that was second best. :) Making my kids happy through memories, is by far my favorite thing. I can't wait for our next adventure.
Porch Make-Over
The other day I finally got up the motivation to tackle our hideous porch! It was so UGLY! My Father In Law, came by and pressure washed it for me, and then I used a paint scraper and got the rest of the peeling paint off of it, then I painted it. I knew it was ugly before, but I didn't realize how ugly until the paint got on it, lol. After the first day, I got it all cleaned up, three coats of paint on the porch, and 2 coats of paint on the poles.
I picked all the little weeds that were growing in front of the first step, I got some metal spray paint and covered up the rust on the screen door. Then, I used a paint scraper to get as much of the old paint off as possible, and then used porch paint and painted the porch 3 times. Later, I used white paint to go over the posts 2 times. They will need atleast one more coat. :) It already looks SO much better after 1 day of work!
Well, the porch project is complete. If I had an endless budget, it would look even better, however, we make the best of what we have, and we are happy with it. : ) It ended up with 3 coats of grey porch paint, several coats of white paint on the posts, a new doormat, a new mailbox, and all the plants back on the steps. We like it, and it looks fresh and clean! It was a pretty cheap, and quick makeover!
